Let's Focus on Encouragement

Let's Focus on Encouragement
Sister Cindy Feeman

The month of March was a month of KINDNESS... so in April we will focus on ENCOURAGEMENT, which seems to go hand in hand with Kindness. Being an "encourager" seems to be a lost art. So many people are finding it easier and easier to speak their disapproval of just about everything. And social media has made it even easier  to speak ones disapproval of you and everything in your life. A lot of times its things one wouldn't say to your face, but they will text it or post it!

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21

A formidable power dwells within each of us. This power has changed the course of Nations. It is capable of starting and ending wars. It has made men rich and women famous. It is the means to command or corrupt, to bless or to blame... It is the POWER OF THE TONGUE.

God desires us to use this power for his glory, but the devil wants a piece of the action. He wants us to use our words for harm instead of hope. That is why we do well to watch our mouths, but it is not always an easy thing to do. In addition to the verse, which reminds us that our words have the power of life and death, Mark reminds us that our words hold the power to cast entire mountains into the sea and wither fig trees.

How could we ever hope to tame such a thing as the tongue?

That is why we surrender ourselves, our whole selves to Christ. Only then, with the tongue submitted to His perfect will, can we hope to master this great power that we have been given to bless Him and bless others with our loving and empowering words.

"Set a guard, O Lord over my mouth, keep watch over the door of my lips." Psalms 141:3

Today make your mouth "a fountain of life." Prov. 10:11  "Be slow to speak." James 1:19. Encourage more than you critique. Seek opportunities to speak kind, tenderhearted words. Say something affectionate to a loved one at an unexpected time. seek to speak only words that are "good for building up", that "give grace to those who hear" Eph. 4:29.

"But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration ans renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us RICHLY through Jesus Christ our Savior."  Titus 3: 4-6

Who am I that God should give unto me His loving kindness, mercy and grace? Who am I that He should shed His blood for my transgressions, take my place, my punishment, my death? It's hard to fathom.

when we want to be kind it is always easy to be kind to our friends and our loved ones. But often times it is hard to show kindness to someone we don't know... someone we feel is undeserving. Sometimes going against what we feel is right... because they have hurt us or a loved one. They have wronged someone, or even sinned. They may even seem evil to us.

But such were some of us in the sight of God, yet He chose to grant His mercy... pour out His grace and extended unfathomable compassion toward us ALL.
He didn't measure His loving kindness by our degrees of unrighteousness, for we are ALL undeserving of it!
And to top it off, He gave the infilling of the Holy Ghost so we could have power to be over-comers.
That is true loving kindness... that is life!

"Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips will praise you."
Psalm 63:3

The Month of March We Will Be Planting Seeds of Kindness

People are considered to be nice when they are polite, but kindness goes out of it's way.
A nice person can ask, "Are you hungry?"
A kind person will bring out food for you without even having to ask.

You never hear anyone say the "act of niceness", but you always hear people say the "act of kindness".

As believers, many times we can be nice and not kind. You can be nice and not care. You can be nice to someone and still not like them. It happens all the time in the world.

"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, KINDNESS, gentleness and patience." Col.3:12

When our hearts are aligned toward God... kindness and goodness come out. People cherish kindness and when you go the extra mile... KINDNESS GIVES HOPE!
